St Ciers du Taillon is located 6 km from Mirambeau which at junction 37 on the A10, 70 km north of Bordeaux. The area is predominately vineyards & arable land with large wooded areas within the rolling countryside. The towns & cities of Royan, Bordeaux, Angouleme & Saintes are all within an hours drive, with lovely beaches half an hour away.                                                The village of St Ciers du Taillon, situated on the main road to Royan, has within it a number of shops; boulangerie, presse, pharmacy, small supermarket, a butcher, a post office, hotel/bar & library. The hamlet of La Vigerie is 2 km away up a small side road on a low hill with open views across rolling countryside. The whole area is mainly a French farming community with a small English population.        The town of Mirabeau is 6km away with good north/south communications on the A10.  It has a wide range of shops including 2 supermarkets, bars & builders merchants. There is a market once a week here.      The cities of Bordeaux, La Rochelle, Royan, Angouleme & Saintes are all easily reached by road. La Rochelle & Angouleme have a TGV rail station. La Rochelle & Bordeaux have airports with 9 flights per day to the UK.        The beaches of Meschers, St. George de Didonne, Royan & La Palmere are all within a short drive offering a choice of beach activities.
